Dear Sir or Madam:
The undersigned, in his capacity as Deputy General Manager of the public limited company called Empresas Copec S.A. (“Empresas Copec” or the “Company”), both domiciled in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, El Golf N° 150, 17th floor, Las Condes commune, registered in the Securities Registry with N° 0028, RUT N° 90.690.000-9, duly authorized by the Board of Directors, communicates to you the following essential information regarding the Company, its businesses, its public offering securities or the offer thereof, by virtue of the provisions of article 9 and paragraph 2 of article 10, both of Law 18,045, and in General Rule No. 30, of that Commission for the Financial Market:
By Resolution No. 9216, of December 28, the Commission for the Financial Market (CMF) authorized the registration of Compañía Emisora de Medios de Pago Digitales S.A., a subsidiary of our affiliate Copec S.A., in the Subregistry of Issuers of Payment Cards with Provision of Funds, of the Single Registry of Issuers of Payment Cards maintained by the CMF. Likewise, and by virtue of the same resolution, the aforementioned Compañía Emisora de Medios de Pago Digitales S.A. was authorized to operate, developing the exclusive business of non-bank issuer of payment cards with provision of funds.
The initiative marks the entry of the subsidiary Copec S.A. in the market of issuing means of payment, in line with its strategy of expanding its platform of new businesses from innovation and digitalization.
Consequently, the newly appointed subsidiary can begin to make the exclusive turn described, which will allow its customers to manage their funds, that is, make purchases in stores, pay bills, transfer money to their contacts and other services that will be added over time.
The named subsidiaries believe that this transaction will have positive effects on their results, although at the moment these are not quantifiable.
