Dear Sir or Madam:
The undersigned, in his capacity as General Manager of the public limited company called
EMPRESAS COPEC S.A. (“Empresas Copec” or the “Company”), both domiciled in the Region
Metropolitana de Santiago, El Golf N°150, 17th floor, Las Condes commune, registered in the Registry of
Values with N°0028, RUT N°90.690.000-9, duly authorized by the Board of Directors, communicates to
you the following essential information regarding the Company, its business, its offering values
public or the offer thereof, by virtue of the provisions of article 9 and paragraph 2 of article 10,
both of Law 18,045, and in General Rule No. 30, of that Commission for the Market
Financial:
Our subsidiary Celulosa Arauco y Constitución S.A. (“Arauco”) has informed us that, considering
the current projections of margins, exchange rate differences and the sustained increase in
risk in Argentina, and applying the usual procedures for determining punishments or
impairments in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Arauco and its
subsidiary Inversiones Arauco Internacional Limitada will register in the accounts in the year 2022 a
impairment provision on certain assets of the subsidiary Arauco Argentina S.A., for a net amount of
deferred taxes of approximately US$83 million.
Therefore, the negative effect of the provision referred to on the results at the end of 2022,
both Arauco and Empresas Copec, will amount to the amount already indicated.
