Dear Sir or Madam:
The undersigned, on behalf of the corporation called Celulosa Arauco and
Constitution (the “Company”), both domiciled for these purposes at Avenida el Golf 150,
14th floor, commune of Las Condes, Metropolitan region, company registered in the Registry of
Values with the N* 42, RUT N* 93.548.000-1, and being duly authorized, communicates to you.
the following essential information regarding the Company and its business, pursuant to the
provided for in Article 9″ and paragraph 2? of article 10%, both of Law number 18,045, and in the
General Rule No. 30 of that Commission, which complements the information of
interest previously published on the Company’s website.
As is public knowledge, since last week they have been presenting
multiple sources of fires in the country, and with regard to Arauco, in the Maule regions,
Ñuble, Biobío and Los Ríos, many of them product of the irresponsible or intentional action of
third parties (the “Fires”).
For fire prevention and fighting purposes, the Company has more than 1,300
Professional forest brigades, properly trained and equipped for combat
against fire, as well as with 700 forestry brigades of liquidation. Additionally, Arauco
It has 89 bomb cars, 30 runways and helistrips, a total of 35 aircraft (11 aircraft)

coordination aircraft), 18 skidders, 2 bulldozers, 130 detection towers with cameras

Notwithstanding the above, product of the high temperatures that have been maintained for
several days in the south central area of the country, from the action of the wind, the low humidity and
the complexity involved in fighting many active fires and outbreaks that appear

considerable.
In the area where the fires are developing, Arauco has approximately 40,000
hectares of productive forest plantations potentially affected (the “Plantations”.
However, experience indicates that only a percentage of Plantations will have a degree
of significant affectation, which can only be determined once the conditions
allow to evaluate the damage suffered, which will depend on the age of the Plantations, the
Fire intensity in the different areas and which were actually hit.
The Plantations affected by the Fires have insurance, with their corresponding
Deductibles and limitations.
For now we are not in a position to specify the effects that the fires will produce in
the results of the Society.
